If you are interested in a cutting board, contact me and we can discuss options for me to make one for you. I am also willing to make a custom board for you.
Cutting boards are an essential item for your kitchen. Mine are made from various strips of hardwoods so they hold up under use. The various strips create beautiful contrasting stripes for a pleasing look. Each board is unique in pattern.
People often tell me they are afraid to buy one because they don’t want to damage it. I remind them there are two sides. Use one for cutting, the other for display, if that is your worry. Otherwise, just use both sides and enjoy!
Standard sizes I make include:
- 3/4 inches thick by 15-7/8 inches long by 12-1/4 inches wide
- 3/4 inches thick by 12 inches long by 9 inches wide
I have also made many custom sizes and used specific woods as requested. Solid maple is also popular as it is less costly to use the one wood due to the price of the wood compared to other exotic hardwoods.
I recently obtained some one-inch thick solid strand bamboo lumber. I have used that to make cutting boards that work great for utility cutting of meat and anything else you desire. I added a groove on one side to catch juices when cutting meat. The other side is smooth. The size of these boards is: 1 inch thick by 15-7/8 inches long by 11-7/8 inches wide.
The boards pictured above are just a few examples of boards I have made. Visit my Types of Wood page to find out more about each species I tend to use.
